About this site

AMC 10 Step by Step is a study site built by a parent for students aiming to qualify for the AIME. There are no ads and no data sales. Accounts exist so that your practice history, error log and recommendations follow you between devices. Everything on it is free, and under the licence the problems carry, everything on it has to stay free.

Copyright and licence

The AMC 10 problems are copyrighted © by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), as part of the American Mathematics Competitions, and the MAA publishes them under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 licence (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). They are reproduced here under that licence — on screen, and as printable papers, each sheet carrying its attribution.

That licence sets the terms for you as well. Copy anything here, print it for a class, put it on a school site: keep the attribution, do not sell it or anything built on it, and pass on the same freedom by sharing what you make under the same licence. Our own work — the solutions, topic and technique tags, difficulty ratings and commentary, all original and not copied from any other source — travels under those same terms wherever it travels with the problems.

What it costs

Nothing. The problems, answers, written solutions, topic guides, practice sets, mock tests, printable papers and progress tools are free to everyone and always will be. There is no subscription to buy: NonCommercial means what it says, and a hint is generated about an MAA problem, so selling one would be selling their problem. AI hints stay capped per account per day because each one costs real money to generate, not because a paid tier is waiting behind them.

Supporting the site

Keeping the site running costs money: the server and database it runs on, and every AI hint it generates. If the site has helped you and you would like to share those costs, you can make a donation through Stripe, in any amount you choose.

So far 2 people have given $10 in total. The figure is what donors gave, less any refunds; Stripe’s fee is counted as a running cost, not taken off. Thank you.

A donation is a gift, not a purchase. It unlocks nothing: no extra hints, no features, no badge. Your account works exactly as it did before, and anyone who never donates gets the same site. Donations go to the site owner to cover running costs; they do not go to the MAA, and because the site is not a registered charity they are not tax-deductible.
